Paula Davila Martinez, Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, adidas

Paula is a visionary and strategically driven transformational leader with extensive international experience in diverse industries delivering excellence in procurement and supply chain management. She leads high performing teams to build strong partnerships and promotes a results-driven culture delivering cost savings and innovative solutions. She has proven successful at elevating procurement organisations from transactional to highly strategic using a transformational mindset. She is an inspiring and future-oriented leader who positively impacts bottom line profitability and brings an expertise in procurement and supply management, operational excellence, outsourcing/offshoring, turnaround and crisis management situations.

Paula joined adidas in 2017 to lead procurement, based in the company’s headquarters in Germany. She is transforming a decentralised and operational procurement organisation with low levels of maturity into a high performing and strategic one. She is building a brand new operating model for the function while delivering results.

Previously, Paula was vice president and CPO at UCB Biopharma based in Brussels. In six years at the helm she led a highly engaged and motivated procurement team to become a source of competitive advantage for the company, driving procurement excellence.  She also released a significant amount of operating cash flow through supplier payment terms improvements and tight management of accounts payable processes.

Before then, Paula was head of indirect procurement EMEA for The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Luxembourg, leading indirect procurement across EMEA. She achieved great things, transforming the indirect procurement organisation with a strategic, operational and transactional focus, reorganised regional strategic sourcing category management team to maximize synergies, and launched a supplier relationship management programme to capture benefits with key suppliers.

Prior to this Paula was with Anheuser Busch InBev in Belgium, in a number of progressively more responsible roles, culminating in global procurement director indirect. In this role Paula delivered savings and payment terms targets through global sourcing initiatives and category management, and identified pre/post-merger category synergies after the acquisition of Anheuser-Busch.

Paula started her career with DHL’s European management graduate programme in the UK, on graduation from her MSc in international business in London. Paula has a MBA by Bradford University, a Bachelor in business administration from the University of Wales, and has graduated from the general management programme at Harvard Business School in Boston, where she is an alumni.  

She has recently completed the Woman on Boards: Succeeding as a Corporate Director programme, also at Harvard. She is an Advisory Board Member to Procurement Leaders and a Member of Procurement 50 (a World Inc. company).
