Richard Crane
Chief Procurement Officer, Haleon
Richard Crane has led the Global Procurement function for Haleon since the company was launched as a standalone in 2022. He is responsible for procurement of all direct and indirect materials, for the Global Haleon organization.
Richard has applied a business mindset to the procurement strategy and approach to supply chain agility, that’s still competitive. Intense external pressure has meant the highly efficient value chains he leads have been re-thought and specialized to create agility.
Always enthused by the challenge of keeping procurement one step ahead of the changing geopolitical and international landscape, Richard has ensured his function is raising the bar and setting industry standards on social inclusivity and sustainability. With a focus on people, he has been able to drive social impact not just financial savings. Under his leadership the Haleon Sustainability strategy has been launched and is making good progress on carbon reduction and sustainable sourcing. Haleon has also set industry standards by establishing an FMCG connect group with other peer organizations, to take a combined approach to tackle sustainability issues.
Prior to Haleon, Richard was the CPO at Royal Philips since 2019. Under his leadership, the company transformed procurement by shifting focus to cross-functional supplier development and agility of the supply base. He also introduced a holistic approach to indirect spend, based on partnering with functions, regions and business units.
Richard has vast international experience in procurement, operations, service, e-commerce, and digital supply chain enablement. He is personally committed to developing talent, and takes pride in his ability to develop collaborative and productive relationships across functions and external partners.
He says, “you get the best out of me when there is bold and diverse thinking, creative problem solving, passion and drive.”
