Rob is chief commercial officer at HM Revenue and Customs, the UK’s tax, payments and customs authority. The department has recently administered key Covid-19 response schemes, is working to implement new border arrangements as the UK-EU exit transition period ends, and is also undergoing one of the most significant digital and workforce location transformations in Europe.
At HMRC, Rob provides strategic direction and commercial leadership across the organisation’s diverse spend base of around £1.5bn per annum as HMRC transforms its service to customers through intermediaries and restructures its supplier base to enable diversity and innovation.
He is a member of the Cabinet Office’s Government Commercial Organisation, which recruits, retains and develops senior commercial professionals across the public sector. He is also a member of the commercial function leadership group, which is leveraging the government's position in key supplier markets and raising capability levels.
Before joining HMRC, Rob was a managing director at Accenture from 2006-2017. He worked with executive teams on operational transformation programmes across the financial services, telco, media and public health sectors. He has extensive international experience and has enjoyed working in the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa and the Netherlands.
Alongside his commercial responsibilities, Rob also led Accenture UK’s inclusion and diversity programme for four years and was a champion of the ethnic networks across the organisation. He holds a masters degree in chemical engineering from Birmingham University and is a keen guitarist.
