Sara Harding has been working in technology and procurement since a short-lived graduate assignment as a C Programmer over 20 years ago. She has been lucky enough to have had two careers: the first in commercial support and the second in procurement.
Sara has managed bids, large negotiations and significant accounts in the public and private sectors in the UK in her commercial career. In her procurement roles, she's worked out of Paris, The Hague and New York, managed people and teams based in most major countries in the world and bought everything from coffee machines to artificial intelligence software.
Today, Sara is Aegon’s first global CPO, working on improving the value delivered by the distributed procurement teams within the organisation and creating a consistent approach to third party management. She was previously responsible for IT & enterprise spend at Vodafone, joining from Atos where she was CPO for the Americas and IMEA.
During her working life, she's taken time out to bring up her two daughters and to add a postgraduate law degree and an MBA in strategy and procurement to her graduate law degree and Masters in IT. She spends her spare time reading, playing with apps and gadgets and, most recently, learning to grow roses as a low-tech antidote to her many technology obsessions.
